'People are fearful' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now many people's favorites to claim the Premier League this season.

Look at their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace versus those same matches during the prior term.

The Gunners have defeated all of them during this campaign, but dropped 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race in the prior campaign.

Defensive Prowess

Arsenal's defensive solidity is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to finally fulfil their title goal.

They rank top for clean sheets (6), goals conceded (3), attempts against (72), shots on target faced (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the strongest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their danger from dead balls is widely recognized, but opposition teams still struggle to contain the Gunners from these chances.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals resulting from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just wary of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Potential

What is particularly remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on manager Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer additions in search of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in remarkable manner, with his side among the highest scorers in the league and having the tightest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Shutouts in three consecutive Premier League games
  • 385 minutes without letting in a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now performing with conviction and resolve.
